Since the fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden, we’ve been fighting Satan’s temptations and our sinful flesh. Life is a battleground over our very souls. A war between the goodness of God and the present darkness lurking behind every corner.
Satan despises mankind because we are made in God’s image, and we are loved by Him. This is why his ultimate goal is to lead us into temptation at an opportune time and get us to sin against God.
Every time we’re faced with temptation, we have the choice to respond either righteously or sinfully. And every time we stand strong through adversity, we are saying “I love you” to God. Because God’s love language is obedience of His perfect word.
So how do we fight back against Satan in the face of temptation?
We call on the Lord Jesus Christ! We look to His truth and discern how He would handle every struggle we encounter. Because in His grace, He will always provide a way of escape. This is why Jesus has given us the indwelling and power of the Holy Spirit so we can stand against the schemes of the devil. We can have victory in Christ when we take up God’s word as our weapon and put on the full armor of God.
When You Fall Into Temptation…
If you’ve recently fallen into temptation, know that God loves you and forgives you. All of us fall short of the glory of God, and that’s why Jesus came to be the perfect gift and atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Proverbs 24:16 says: “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”
Don’t fall for the lies Satan will try to tell you if you stumble, and don’t let him shame you into thinking you’re not worthy of God’s love…Just get back up and keep fighting the good fight. The Christian life isn’t made to be easy, and God has chosen us to be stewards of His truth for a reason. Without adversity, we wouldn’t experience spiritual growth, and have the context to understand the power of God’s love and forgiveness.
This is why we can consider it pure joy when we fall into trials of various kinds…Because God is producing perseverance within us! If we strive to have a pure heart, we will see eternal life with our faithful high priest, Jesus!
