Why Does God Isolate You? 5 Amazing Reasons God Separates You From the World
Why Does God Isolate The Ones He Loves? Does God have you in a season of isolation? Are you wondering what to do next?
This post is all about reasons why God could have you in a period of isolation.
Seasons of isolation are among the most difficult we experience as Christians in our walk with God. Isolation forces us to depend on God in more radical and extreme ways than we might otherwise. And encourages us to increase our faith in God’s ways over our own.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Whatever the cause for isolation, you’re probably experiencing intense emotions and confusion about why things are happening the way they are. As hard as these times can be, you can take comfort in knowing that God is with you and has a purpose for whatever you’re going through.
It’s often during these isolating times in life, that God holds you the closest to His heart. And provides some of the greatest potential for spiritual growth!
Why Does God Isolate You? Here are 5 reasons why!
Why Does God Isolate You?
1. God Wants Your Primary Focus To Be On Him
God loves you and He has Godly jealousy for you. He wants to be number one in your life and He deserves to be! The world will try anything and everything to distract you from God because Satan wants to distort the truth and keep you away from what matters.
The truth is that these moments on earth are fleeting, and eternity is coming. Our eternity will be based on the relationship we have with Jesus in this life.
If you’ve found yourself in a season of isolation, consider that maybe God is trying to get your attention. If you’ve let your relationship with God slip, just run straight back into His arms and He will show you what to do next.
God understands that you’re busy and have a million things on your to-do list. But never allow these things to push the most important relationship in your life down the list of importance.
Anything we put before God is an idol and we should constantly be self-evaluating to see if there’s anything we’re putting before Him. We need to be making Him a priority above all else, in any way we can.
This can look like talking/praying to Him throughout the day. Setting time aside to get into the Word, or attending a Bible study with fellow brothers and sisters.
2. He’s Protecting You
We all come to God at different points and places in our lives. God builds a unique testimony in each of us to bring glory to Himself and position us to reach specific people. However, for us to properly obey God, it requires obedience. God may ask us to let go of people, environments, vices, ungodly habits, etc.
If you’re holding onto things that are interfering with God’s will for your life…You will have to release them to experience the greater plans God has in store for you.
God doesn’t ask us to understand everything He’s doing, but He does ask us to trust and put our faith in Him. God can see your situation from every angle and is everywhere all at once.
He always has good reason when He gives us unctions to avoid certain situations and gives us those feeling to protect us. That conscience inside of you is your connection with God. Listen to it.
God can see the good plans ahead that he has for you, but He can’t act until you have faith in His promise. This is because it is impossible to please God without proper faith.
If you’re getting the holy prompting to drop a habit, relationship, or whatever else…You can trust that it’s God trying to lead you to better and more fulfilling things.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jeremiah 29:11
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
3. He’s Growing Your Character For The Future.
In the Bible, we can observe that many people God chose to use for His glory had to endure the ever-enduring process of refinement. God needed His people to have specific character traits to carry out the divine assignments He had on their lives.
One of my favorite case studies of this is Joseph’s story.
Joseph had to be put through some extreme challenges to be equipped for the position God was preparing for him. This required Joseph to go through multiple periods of isolation, uncertainty, and complete dependence on God.
He needed to trust God when his brothers sold him into slavery and when he was wrongly thrown into prison…And when the time finally came for him to use his God-given gift of interpreting dreams.
Joseph’s faith in God led him to the position of being second in command in all of Egypt. His God-given provision led to him saving people from famine and restoring his family.
God’s ways are mysterious, to say the least, yet supremely beautiful. We can have faith in His goodness, His timing, and His purposes.
You may have had to go through something extremely difficult in your life to have a testimony to reach thousands. When you’re walking with God, you have the opportunity to live out the purpose God created you for. And there is no more fulfilling way to live.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33
4. He’s Trying To Re-Align Your Heart
How many times do we fight God tooth and nail over things we’ve decided we want in our lives?
I think we’re all guilty of doing this quite frequently until we learn that our ways will never be better than God’s. God will sometimes use isolation to re-align our hearts to be in line with His desires and not our own.
If you’re walking contrary to God’s will He may push you to such a low point that the only place to look is up at Him.
God may bring you to a place of utter dependence to show you that you need Him above all else and He is the only One you truly need.
God desires a relationship with every one of us and will do drastic things to get our attention.
If this is happening to you, then you can take heart knowing that God disciplines the ones He loves and He is drawing you near to Him.
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
Hebrews 12:6
5. God Is Preparing To Use You In A Mighty Way
Finally, one of my favorite attributes of God is His desire to choose the most unexpected people to show His glory in the world. Take Moses’ story, Gideon’s, Rahab’s, Paul’s and David’s. The list goes on and on.
The individuals He chooses often have to go through trials of isolation and refinement to act accordingly when God asks them to put their faith in motion.
They had to trust that God would do exactly what He said He would. And that He was (and is) the great I AM.
If God has you in a period of isolation, you can take heart and be encouraged because God could be preparing you for something very specific that only you can do. God may be preparing to make an example out of you, but to do this He needs you all to Himself.
One observation that has always stuck with me is how Jesus didn’t take all 12 disciples up on the mountain. He only chose: Peter, James, and John to witness His transfiguration on the mountain with Moses and Elijah. Not everyone is meant to go to the same depths and relationship with God.
If God has picked you out of the world, know you are special to Him… And He has very special and specific work He needs you to do for the Kingdom.
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1 Corinthians 1:27
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
1 Peter 2:9
In Conclusion…
Seasons of isolation are extraordinary opportunities to grow with God and are transition periods into the next promise God has for your life!
