So how does God want us to live? Read on!
How Does God Want Us To Live?
1. God wants us to love Him with our whole heart
First and foremost, God calls us to love Him above all else. When we diligently seek after God, He will bestow on us His great wisdom… And impart to us the fruit of the Spirit which helps align us with God’s heart and will.
How can we love God with our whole heart? We can:
-By seeking after Jesus.
–Loving those around us as ourselves.
-Giving Him the honor He deserves by submitting unto His Word.
-Spending time with Him through prayer, reading the Bible, and sharing the gospel.
–Including Him in all our decisions, thoughts, and actions.
The only opinion that truly matters is Godโs, so If we live our lives to please Him, everything else will naturally fall into place.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
2. God wants us to walk by faith, not by sight.
If it wasnโt for Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice… None of us would be able to have a relationship with the Father at all. We’re all guilty of sin, and that’s why God sent Jesus as an act of love to redeem us.
When we come to faith in Christ, we are new creations and able to live boldly in this truth. That’s why God measures our love for Him by how we love Jesus and express His love in our own lives.
Understanding that we are saved by the grace of Jesus is the first essential step in having a relationship with God. Jesus bridged the gap between us and God, and because of Him, we can live joyfully and fearlessly.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
3. God wants us bare the fruit of the spirit
As followers of Christ, we’re called to be vessels of Jesus and represent His love in our own lives. In Galatians, Paul described the qualities that define Christians:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23.
These qualities describe Jesus’ heart and are the standard weโre to follow in our lives. When we exemplify these traits in our lives, we radiate the heart of God and conquer the darkness through our faith in expressing who God is.
Life can be extremely difficult, and it can be even more difficult to possess these qualities when the world isnโt kind, but we are called to be set apart for a reason.
When you picture the fruit of the spirit, picture yourself as a tree. Every time you respond to someone with kindness on your tongue, you grow more fruit and have the potential to plant more seeds in others.
The best way to win people over to Christ is by living out your faith and being an example of how Jesus has changed your own heart. Be so in love with God that people get curious about Jesus and want to experience Him for themselves.
4. God wants us to be the light of the world
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16
God calls us to be shining lights in the dark world around us.
When we heed to the transformative power of Christ… We have the opportunity to further emulate His light into the world. Christians can shine onto those around us and present insight into the mysterious and fulfilling knowledge that comes from having a relationship with God. We can also show the joy we have which only comes by having a relationship with Jesus.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. 1 Peter 2:9
5. God wants us to spread the good news about Jesus
At the end of the day, Jesus is the only One who matters. He is the only reason we have hope and a future. This life weโre experiencing now is a drop in the ocean compared to the eternity that awaits us all.
Every knee will bow and every single person will have to face God in judgment for how they chose to spend their time here on this earth. Everyone is presented with opportunities to come forward to God in repentance but sadly not everyone accepts this free gift.
As Christians, we are stewards of the truth. God has given us the extraordinary gift of knowing Him and the gift of humility to accept His truth with joy. Many in the world are lost and donโt understand the spiritual implications of what will happen if they choose to reject and disobey God.
But we can have hope that if we remain close to Godโs heart, He will use us as vessels to spread His light according to His purpose. Our Holy Spirit connection can do extraordinary things when weโre bold enough to operate out of faith, and when we listen to His promptings.
God calls us to boldly share the gospel with all. If we love Jesus the way we claim to, we should want every person to experience His supernatural love.
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. Mark 16:15
6. We are to forgive as God forgives us
Forgiveness is undoubtedly one of the most difficult things God calls us to do as Christians.
We’re emotional beings, and it’s perfectly acceptable to feel hurt, angry, betrayed, upset, etc when people damage our trust. However, if we let that hurt harbor for too long… It can turn into bitterness which distracts us from the will of God and does not bare the fruit of the Spirit.
Forgiveness is the release of unfavorable emotions so that your heart no longer has to remain in bitterness. And it is truly for ourselves and God more than the person who hurt you.
When you forgive, you surrender your hurt to God and allow Him to deal with the individual. Ultimately God has set the fundamental law of sowing and reaping into action, and people will always reap what they sow.
We can always trust that God will take care of the situation far better than we will, and all we need to do is release the matter to Him. We can find peace in surrendering our hurt feelings to God.
Jesus even made the point that we are to forgive our neighbor seventy times seven times to emphasize the idea that weโre meant to continually forgive. The truth is that we all need forgiveness. We’re all sinners and God expects us to forgive each other so He will ultimately forgive us.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15
7. God want us to live in joy
God is so good and He wants us to exist in happiness knowing that He has conquered all and we have victory in Jesus.
Living in the world can be extremely trying at times. But ultimately God has already won! We can live fearlessly because the same God who holds the oceans in His hands is the One advocating for us.
As Christians, we get the opportunity to experience Godโs fullness even here on Earth. There are so many people searching high and low for the peace and meaning of life that we have found. Jesus is the treasure we’re all searching for.
We can also have joy knowing that God has a purpose for us here on earth. And that He has exceedingly amazing things in the life beyond when we’re finally reunited with Him.
Eternal peace, love and joy is waiting with Jesus. And we can live each day in joy knowing that the best is yet to come!
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
