20 Bible Verses That Helped Me Heal From A Broken Heart
If you’re currently going through a heartbreak, take comfort in knowing that God is near to the broken hearted and He loves you immensely. Here are 20 Bible Verses that helped me overcome my broken heart.
Heartbreak is one of the most intense feelings we experience in life. It can be a necessary trial to face to step into the promises God has for our lives.
I know it’s not easy to let go of people we’ve put love, time, and effort into regardless of the circumstance… but the truth is that God has certain blessings in mind for you, that aren’t meant for everyone.
You’re probably here because you love people very deeply and you’re having trouble coping with the loss of this relationship in your life.
One of the most life-changing realizations I’ve had about people is this:
Not everyone genuinely loves God, and therefore cannot adequately give love to others.
I recently went through the most heart-wrenching heartbreak of my life. I had to let go of a person whom I loved dearly and who betrayed me in ways I was never expecting. I had to accept that he wanted to choose things of the world over me and he didn’t desire to truly live for God.
I outgrew the relationship because he wasn’t willing to grow with me.
While I was coping with my broken heart, I dove into the word of God and spent lots of time in prayer. The Holy Spirit showed me how to see things through His lens and I was comforted by God’s presence in ways I had never experienced before. God’s righteous right hand began to open up doors of opportunity in my life and now I am happier than I’ve been in a long time. All thanks to my Lord Jesus Christ.
So my dear sister or brother in Christ, I encourage you to allow God to become your strength. Open your heart to the amazing plan He has for you, and move forward in faith knowing that everything happens for a reason. And remember that it’s often during our seasons of brokenness that God draws nearest to us.
God’s love is our strong tower, let’s always choose to run to Him.

5. Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Jeremiah 29:11
We are the apple of God’s eye and He loves us dearly. Even when the people in our lives aren’t measuring up to love us how we deserve to be loved, God always does. God has plans for us better than we could ever think or fathom, but it requires obedience and faith on our part.
6. Psalm 71:20
Thou, which hast shewed me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken me again and shalt bring me up again from the depths of the earth.
Psalm 71:20
Sometimes we bring misfortune upon ourselves through our decisions, getting involved with the wrong people, etc. Thankfully, we have a God who will be there to renew our broken spirit every time we call on Him. It doesn’t matter how many times we fall down, God is always ready to lift us back up.

But we can be thankful knowing that we have an all powerful God fighting for us in our corner. Jesus defeated death itself through the cross and everything is subject to Him. The same God who holds the seas in His hands is the One fighting for you.
11. 1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Maybe we’ve poured all we can into a person who isn’t willing to do the same for us. Maybe the red flags were there all along and we didn’t want to accept them.
God is so gracious that He promises to restore all that was lost, and this includes in a heart break. Eventually God’s perfect timing will bring a good man that will love you as Christ loves the church and will make you forget all of this sadness you’re presently enduring.
13. Isaiah 42:9

16. Isaiah 41:10

Another translation says to “be anxious for nothing”. This is because faith and fear CANNOT coexist and be felt at the same time…
When we abide in proper faith, we get to experience the peace that surpasses all understanding and know that God is the master of our faith. We can always be thankful because God is working everything for our good, even when we can’t see it.
18. Matthew 11:28-30

Matthew 11:28-30
In this verse, Jesus is inviting us to yoke up with Him and let Him guide us. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Revelation 21:4
One thing that helps me when I’m hurting is to remind myself of this verse. When it feels impossible to endure the heartache, I just remember that one day we will be with Jesus, and no longer have to endure the pain we have to experience in this life. There are immeasurable amounts of joy and peace reserved for those who put their faith in Jesus and live their lives for God.
Final thoughts:
This is the most opportune time to grow in your relationship with God and completely surrender your life to Him. If you’ve gotten your heart broken recently, remember that God is with you and He is in control.
Allow yourself time to mourn over the loss, but remember that God’s plan is perfect and He is calling you into this new season for a reason. God bless you!
